What Is a YAG Laser?

It is non-invasive and nearly painless which is why it is highly recommended by medical professionals regardless of skin type. It can be used over a patients’ entire body including face and neck.
During the treatment, the laser practitioner should ensure that the person being treated is not on medication that may cause adverse effects during and after the treatment. If he or she has acne, a cooling gel should be applied to the affected areas first. Considering the blinding light of lasers, both the patient and practitioner should wear eye goggles to protect their eyes from the light.

- It is non-invasive and convenient and relatively pain-free solution. The light passing through the skin will only cause a slight discomfort but is extremely bearable. After a couple of sessions, patients will start noticing positive results on their skin. 
- It is fast and effective. YAG laser treatment typically takes 1 to 2 hours. Unlike cosmetic surgeries, patients don’t need general anesthesia for the treatment. Your patient or client can lie and relax, knowing that his/her acne will soon disappear without feeling too much pain.  
- It’s a safe, modern treatment. YAG lasers provide a solution for patients who are suffering from acne. Not all treatments purporting to be new and proven are safe but YAG lasers are backed by science and approved by professionals. Patients can be assured of their safety while going through the procedure.  
- Low rate of allergic reactions compared with surgeries. Surgeries require prescription antibiotics before the procedure to combat bacteria and possible allergic reactions with other medicines. Thankfully, YAG lasers don’t require oral medication unless the patient has other skin problems. Patients can expect their skin to feel warm and slightly pink after the treatment but it will go away eventually. Doctors can recommend soothing gels to cool off the treated area.
- Minimal penetration to the skin. Unlike dermabrasion and chemical peels, YAG lasers will allow precise control over the depth of penetration. But it is also very fast-acting and more efficient compared with chemical-based treatments.
