The IGBT is a high-voltage, high-current switching device that controls the current flow through the flashlamps. When turned on, a ground path from the “+” capacitor bank through the flashlamps to the “–” of the capacitor bank is completed allowing current to flow. The IGBT used in these lasers is a single IGBT module.
